Government Increases Synergy with Stakeholders in Suppressing the Spread of Covid-19
Banten, January 6th, 2022
Responding to the current condition of the spread of Omicron variant of COVID-19, the Authority has responded with readiness to prevent and control the transmission of the Omicron variant. Authority also strengthens synergies between the central administration and Regional Governments, health service facilities, and health human resources as well as equalizing perceptions in the management of patients with positive confirmation of Covid-19.
In general, the spread of Covid-19 cases is currently under control, which is indicated by the sloping development of positive cases. "Indonesia's Effective Case Reproductive Rate (Rt) is 0.98, and the Rt number for all islands is below 1 (controlled transmission rate). However, we need to watch out for a slight increase in the rate of reproduction," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said at the Press briefing about PPKM Evaluation earlier this week.
Meanwhile, based on information from WHO in Enhancing readiness for Omicron (B.1.1.529): Technical Brief and Priority Actions for Member States on 23 December 2021, it is known that the Omicron variant of Covid-19 has faster transmission characteristics than Delta variants in countries that have experienced community transmission.
Since the variant was first discovered on November 24th 2021 in South Africa, it has now been detected in more than 110 countries and is expected to continue to expand. At the national level, the movement of Omicron has also continued to increase since it was first confirmed on December 16th 2021.
Based on the update of confirmed cases of the Omicron variant, the Ministry of Health noted that there were 92 new confirmed cases on January 4th 2021, bringing the total cases of the Omicron variant to 254 cases, consisting of 239 cases from imported cases and 15 cases of local transmission.
In the context of the Government's synergy with all stakeholders, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto along with other ministers attended the launch of the Quarantine Monitoring Application “PRESISI” at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang-Banten, Thursday (6/01).
The Quarantine Monitoring Application is an application initiated by the National Police as a form of real support in an effort to suppress the spread of Covid-19. This program has also been integrated with data from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
The launch of this application is a form of follow-up supervision of Overseas Travelers (PPLN) to undergo quarantine in accordance with applicable regulations. Through this application, officers can monitor the implementation of quarantine carried out by PPLN from the initial process of quarantine management to completion. In the future, through the use of this application, it is hoped that there will be no more violations related to quarantine.
The launching event was delivered by the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, attended by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Minister of Health, the Head of State Intelegence Agency (BIN), and Chief of General Staff of Indonesian National Armed Forces.
