Visiting the Market in Salatiga City, Coordinating Minister for Airlangga Reviewing the Availability and Affordability of Food Prices for the Public

Salatiga, January 29th, 2022

In an effort to ensure the availability of food supplies and affordable prices for the community, the Government has established policies related to this matter and is accompanied by conducting market operations in several regions.

Policies to ensure the availability of food supplies and price stability for the entire community remain one of the main priorities of the Government in early 2022. The government continues to be committed to taking anticipatory steps to ensure the availability of food and keep food prices affordable for the community.

Following the previous series of market operations in several cities such as Bali, Bogor, Surabaya, and Bintan, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto again conducted a direct review of the implementation of market operations which this time was held at Pasar Raya I Salatiga, Salatiga City, Central Java Province, Saturday (29/01).

During the market operation event in Salatiga, Coordinating Minister Airlangga also took the time to go around and chat briefly with traders and buyers. “This market operation is part of the Government's concrete steps involving various relevant stakeholders to ensure the availability of basic commodities at affordable prices, and monitor prices, especially cooking oil,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

Mrs. Lis, a buyer who works as a fried food seller, said that currently cooking oil is quite rare, while she needs a large stock of oil as a fried food seller. In addition, the people who participated in the activity enthusiastically expressed their gratitude to the Government for helping to ease the burden on the community through the implementation of market operations.

Through this activity, the Government is committed to meeting the needs of cooking oil for the community and maintaining price stability so that it is affordable. By maintaining supply, of course, it is hoped that prices will also be maintained.

Continuing the series of visits, Coordinating Minister Airlangga and his entourage visited the Salatiga White Cross Wredha Home to witness the implementation of free medical treatment and the provision of basic food assistance for the residents of the orphanage.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga also took the time to visit the Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Campus Clinic to review the booster vaccination implementation for 500 SWCU campus academics. With the implementation of booster vaccinations and continuing to maintain health protocols, it is hoped that the face-to-face lectures at SWCU can run well.

Also attending to accompany Coordinating Minister Airlangga in the series of visits were the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Jerry Sambuaga, Member of the Indonesian Parliament, and Mayor of Salatiga Yulianto.
