Jakarta, January 12th, 2023

Transformed as a country with the highest digital economy in Southeast Asia in 2022, Indonesia is also predicted to have a digital economic value of up to USD 130 billion by 2025. The government will also continue to encourage the creation of digital talent by accelerating skills and productivity improvements through various policies.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs together with Microsoft and Pijar Mahir, Thursday (12/01), launched the Skills for Jobs Indonesia Program in the Webinar of “The Importance of Digital Skills in the Dynamic Workforce”. Supported by implementing partners, the program aims to provide digital literacy, digital skills, and free work preparation to at least one million people by 2024. Skills for Jobs Indonesia Program has also begun to be utilized by the public through the link of .aka.ms/SfJIndonesia.

To fill the needs of improving basic digital literacy skills, the program provides various modules and complemented by advanced digital skills such as data analysis, project management, and professional administration. Not only hard-skill abilities, Skills for Jobs Indonesia Program also presents soft-skills  modules and entrepreneurship, as well as enabling participants to be able to choose a learning path that suits their individual interests.

"In the past one month, this program has provided training to 385 trainers from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia who are representatives from Vocational Training Centers, Regional Technical Implementation Units, Technical Implementation Units, and Vocational and Productivity Training Centers from all over Indonesia,” said Expert Staff for Digital Transformation, Creativity, and Human Resources Rizal Edwin.

Skills for Jobs Indonesia Program provides two online learning platforms that can be accessed free of charge, namely Pijar Mahir from Pre-Employment Cards and e-Training from the Ministry of Manpower. After graduating from the training, participants can join SATU Talent, which is a LinkedIn community that connects companies with digital talent who already have Microsoft certification. The community aims to discuss various matters relating to the world of work ranging from digital skills, networking, to job vacancies.

"This role growth mindset is important. How can we quickly adapt to industry needs through self-capacity development," said Director of Corporate Affairs Microsoft Indonesia Ajar Edi.

Beside targeting people in the workforce in general, Skills for Jobs Indonesia  Program is also trying to be able to accommodate increasing the skills and productivity of government employees, widyaiswara, and civil servants.

"The need for digital talent is not sufficiently met by university graduates or the current workforce. With the increasing need for digital talent, it needs to be prepared from an early age," said the Head of Vertical Ecosystem Education PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk. Sri Safitri. (dep4/dft/fsr)
