Accelerating the Completion of PSN in the Transportation Sector, the Government Encourages the Use of Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Transportation

Jakarta, January 24th, 2023

The government continues to make efforts to change the paradigm of transportation use by encouraging people to use more environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation such as public transportation, walking or cycling. This is also done in an effort to reduce the level of congestion, especially in the DKI Jakarta area.

The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta itself has built various facilities such as proper bicycle and pedestrian paths. Since 2017, 267 kilometers of sidewalks and 114.5 kilometers of bicycle paths have been built. Meanwhile, Transjakarta buses, both corridor and non-corridor, have 116 routes with 1,869 fleets and transporting 1 million passengers per day.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto as Chair of the Committee for the Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Development (KPPIP) in the Ministerial Coordination Meeting regarding the Acceleration of National Strategic Infrastructure Projects (PSN) in the Kretagama Workshop room of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Thursday (19/01), conveyed the importance of the development of PSN transportation infrastructure in area of ​​DKI Jakarta, considering that Jakarta is the center of the Indonesian economy.

The Coordinating Minister Airlangga also said that the construction of the PSN in the transportation sector was expected to have a massive impact on the economy for both DKI Jakarta and nationally and to expedite the logistics route from Tanjung Priok Port.

Acceleration of PSN in the transportation sector in the DKI Jakarta area, such as MRT North South Line Phase 2A, MRT North South Line Phase 2B, MRT East - West, LRT Jakarta Velodrome - Manggarai, DKI Jakarta Toll Road Network, and the New Priok Eastern Access Toll Road (NPEA) has been carried out by the Government and is expected to increase the effectiveness and mobility of the community.

Phase 1 of the North South Line MRT project, namely the Lebak Bulus-Bundaran HI with a length of 16 km, has been in operation, while Phase 2, namely the HI Roundabout-West Ancol, is under construction and is targeted for completion in 2027. Meanwhile, Phase 2A of the HI-City Roundabout and Phase 2B of the City- West Ancol is targeted for completion in 2030.

Then, the Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai LRT with a route of approximately 6 kilometers with a project value of IDR 5.5 trillion is planned to start in 2023 and finish in 2024.

Efforts to add to the network of six sections of the DKI Jakarta Toll Road consisting of the Semanan-Sunter, Sunter-Pulo Gebang, Duri Pulo-Kampung Melayu, Kemayoran-Kampung Melayu, Ulujami-Tanah Abang, and Pasar Minggu-Casablanca toll roads have also been carried out by the Government. Of the six toll roads, the Sunter-Pulo Gebang Toll Road is already in operation, while the Semanan-Sunter Toll Road is targeted for completion in 2024 and the other four toll roads are targeted for financial close in 2024.

Furthermore, the NPEA Toll Road which is a special access to connect the Port of Tanjung Priok to the Kalibaru Terminal will be connected to the Nusantara Bonded Zone and connected to the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road. Funded by PT Pelindo, the NPEA Toll Road will have a length of 7 kilometers and an estimated investment of IDR 3.98 trillion. (dep6/dlt/fsr)
